Craig Braithwaite Sprints/Relays 34th Season Baldwin-Wallace '67
Entering his 34th season coaching the Yellow Jacket sprinters, Craig Braithwaite has amassed one of the most impressive resumes in the NCAA. Under his guidance he has led 20 athletes to All-American achievements, while an impressive 16 relay squads have achieved that same honor. In all, Coach Braithwaite has had 84 All-American performances while coaching at his alma-mater. Additionally, he has coached athletes that currently hold eight school records.
Braithwaite has worked with such talented athletes as Jenniffer Green, multiple-time NCAA Champion and Hall of Famer, Kevin Littlejohn, Derrick McKinley, Spencer Johnson, Kim Smith, Jim Eibel, Will Hartley, and current assistant coach, Jeff Petersmeyer.
Craig attended Baldwin-Wallace from 1963-67, where as a member of the track and field team he competed in the 100, 200, 440, 440 relay, and mile relay in outdoor track and the 55, 300, 440, 4x200, and mile relay in indoor track. He was the Ohio Athletic Conference Champion in the 100 meters and the 55 meters in 1967, and was a two-time All-American in the 440 relay in 1966 and 1967. His achievements on the track garnered him Baldwin-Wallace College Athletic Hall of Fame honors.
Braithwaite graduated from Lakeside High School in 1963 after winning the 100 and 220 yard dashes and placing 2nd in the 440 yard dash in the 1963 Class A State meet.
In 1998, Craig retired from a 31 year career as a biology teacher at Berea High School where he was Head Track and Cross Country coach until returning to his alma-mater in 1976 as an assistant to his college coach, the legendary Sparky Adams.
Braithwaite and his wife Sandy reside in Olmsted Falls. Four grown children and four grandchildren make birthdays and holidays very special events.
